User guide

PerritoDeck turns a tablet into a panel of buttons for your computer. This guide walks you through setting it up and getting the most out of it.

Two apps that work together

  • PerritoDeck runs on your Windows, Mac or Linux computer. It lives in the tray (the menu bar on a Mac), and it's where you design your buttons. When you press a button, this is the app that does the work.
  • Perrito runs on the tablet. It shows your buttons and tells the computer when you press one. It works on Android tablets and phones, including Amazon Fire tablets. An iPhone and iPad version is coming.

The tablet talks only to your computer, over your own Wi-Fi or a USB cable. There's no account and nothing goes to the cloud.

Early days

PerritoDeck is in early development and there are no public downloads yet. This guide describes the app as it is now; anything that isn't finished is marked coming.

What's in this guide

  1. Getting started

Install both apps, pair the tablet, and press your first button. Also: using a USB cable, and Fire tablets.

  2. Buttons and profiles

Make buttons, pages, toggles and sliders. Show live values like the time or CPU use. Use different layouts per tablet or per app.

  3. Integrations

Control OBS Studio and Home Assistant, or use the tablet as a Bitfocus Companion surface.

  4. Plugins

Add timers, weather, server status and more. Run plugins made for the Elgato Stream Deck, or write your own.

  5. Troubleshooting and FAQ

The tablet can't find the computer, pairing fails, hotkeys do nothing, and where your settings live.
