Privacy policy

This policy covers the Perrito apps for Android, iPhone and iPad, the PerritoDeck desktop app, and this website. The short version: we don't collect anything.

What we collect

Nothing. Neither app has analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or user accounts, and neither sends data to us or to any third party.

What the apps store on your devices

• Perrito (Android) stores the addresses of the computers you pair it with, a random device ID it creates on first launch, the pairing secret for each computer, and whether each computer's network address answered last time (so it can tell the computer a firewall may be in the way). These stay in the app's private storage and are deleted when you uninstall it.
• Perrito (iPhone and iPad) stores the addresses of the computers you pair it with, its device ID, and the pairing secrets, which go in the device's Keychain.
• PerritoDeck on your computer stores your button layouts, the list of paired tablets and its own security certificate in your computer's settings folder.

Network connections

The tablet app connects only to the computer you choose, over your local network or a USB cable. It sends that computer your device's name and model, its system version, the app's version and the screen size so PerritoDeck can size the buttons, plus which buttons you press. PerritoDeck does not forward any of this anywhere.

PerritoDeck on your computer contacts the internet only when you ask it to: "Look online" on the Plugins page downloads the plugin list from perritodeck.dev, and the optional update check (off unless you turn it on) asks GitHub for the latest version number. Neither sends anything about you or your setup.

Actions you set up yourself may contact other services — for example, a button that opens a website or controls your smart-home hub. Those connections are made by your computer to services you chose, under their own privacy policies.

This website

perritodeck.dev has no analytics, no cookies, no ads and no third-party requests: its fonts, images and scripts are all served from the site itself. The hosting provider sees the usual details any web server gets, such as your IP address, in order to deliver the pages.

Permissions

The Android and iOS apps request network access to reach your computer, and camera access to scan pairing QR codes. The camera is only used while the scanner is open, and nothing it sees is stored or sent anywhere.

Children

The apps collect no personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date. The full history is public in the project's source repository.
